About
I avoid any processed bread and always seek to buy Sourdough which is often hard to buy so would prefer to make my own but to date this has not been successful! Working at the Key Clinic I have further increased my knowledge regarding biomedical imbalances which is fundamental to long term health.
Having talked to Vanessa and learnt that using bread to also help address those imbalances was very enlightening.
My Work
I am an Occupational Therapist with 30 years of experience and work part-time for the Key Clinic and part-time in private practice. I would like to further apply the skills I would gain during the diploma course to my clinical practice and connect with other OT's who have already completed the course.
Passionate about Baking as Lifestyle Medicine
I have become increasingly frustrated that as a profession, OT's lack knowledge regarding the importance of gut health and systematic health. I prefer the 'bottom up' approach to the 'top down' approach. I have always been a passionate cook and believe combining my love of cooking and clinical knowledge, the sourdough diploma will be the icing on the cake!
My Community
Working at the Key Clinic I am in close contact with Venetia Mitchell who has inspired me to look into the courses at the Sourdough School. Through the Key Clinic my family have had their blood assessed ( Walsh Protocol ) and we take supplements to address those imbalances; going forward I would like to sustain the balances ideally through food most particularly sourdough. At the Key Clinic, I have observed many successful clinical cases which has been achieved by working on the systemic imbalances which has helped to avoid long-term reliance on medication. If I could further apply the knowledge the skills learnt during the diploma this would enable me to further enhance my clinical skills. Clincially I feel as a profession ( OT) we are about 20 plus years behind the curve!
How I use BALM Protocol
I hope to reach out to other OT's and enable them to further broaden their mindset in the 'bottom up' approach particularly those with a neurodiverse presentation and or mental health difficulties that are often driven by poor dietary choices/ constipation and general poor gut health.
