DIVERSITY BREAD® || PERSONALISED BREAD || BAKING AS LIFESTYLE MEDICINE

BAKE WITH THE HANDS OF AN ARTISAN AND THE MIND OF A CLINICIAN

Set within the walled gardens of Dr Vanessa Kimbell's beautiful Victorian home in rural Northamptonshire, The Sourdough School is home to the Proven Bread Programme, teaching the art and science of nutrition, the gut microbiome and fermentation in bread. We train bakers to produce Diversity Bread® and healthcare professionals to personalise bread through Baking as Lifestyle Medicine. Arrange a conversation today.

Recipes Search According to Condition

RECIPES BY CONDITION

These BALM® recipes have been developed and organised according to health condition, social context, ease of preparation, and other practical factors. Each collection is supported by an overview explaining why the chosen breads are appropriate for that particular condition, drawing on clinical experience, scientific evidence, and successful outcomes from previous use.

This approach allows you to closely match symptoms or diagnoses with recipes that have been carefully designed—and in many cases tested—to address specific needs. It also challenges the industrial bread paradigm by creating breads for the individual, rather than a one-size-fits-all product.

By providing these curated collections, I wanted to make it easier for you are healthcare professionals to recommend bread as part of a personalised plan, and choose recipe for individuals to select recipes that are both achievable and clinically relevant. Please remember that these are suggestions and check for contraindications.
