My partner suffered(s) from toxic colitis and crohns and had a colostomy around 8 years ago which has left him with a colostomy bag. I was wondering if you'd be able to discuss a little about how the gut microbiome/digestion is affected by this sort of trauma to the digestive system/processes. Alongside many mental health issues it has caused, he also struggles greatly with his diet and I was wondering if you could point me in the right direction of some useful resources of academic papers to read around the topic. Of course, I understand that you are unable to give medical advice but I'm just interested to do some research myself now that we are at a good point in the course to do so. "
"I am interested in the science of fermentation (experimenting with kombucha, kefir and sourdough at home) and have experienced first hand its benefits on my physical and mental health. "

I was SOOO... excited to hear about this wonderful news of receiving a scholarship! Excited is an understatement. I was/am absolutely THRILLED! I even did my little happy dance! ...and then I promptly waited 5 days to respond. ?

About
I bake for my fellow earthlings. I bake to share and spread kindness through bread. I organize other earthlings to bake with me and share the love and the loaf with those who may not have those two important things in their lives. I bake heart shaped loaves in honor and memory of someone who passed away.
I think that when you have good bread, less is more. I usually just add some butter or some homemade marmalade for my morning slice
How I use BALM Protocol
Through my Nonprofit organization BREAD Encounters I have the opportunity to connect with other organizations. We are planning to connect with local libraries to offer lectures on the benefit of baking your own (sourdough) bread as well as continue to be able to connect with local elementary schools to share the importance of good nutrition and the skill to bake your own bread. We are currently in the process of joining with the Kitchenistas of Olivewood Farms to possibly join their program of "Food Traditions which lead to better Community Health". I am very excited to go out into the community and spread the word about the lifestyle medicine and the bread protocol!
