The image shows a loaf of artisanal sourdough bread sliced open to reveal a beautifully airy and open crumb structure. The crust is golden brown a with oat flakes scattered on the top. The inside of the bread appears soft and slightly glossy, with a network of irregular holes typical of well-fermented sourdough. The background is a simple, neutral surface, allowing the focus to remain on the bread’s texture and inviting appearance.

The Personalised Bread Consultation — £299
The foundation of integrative personalised bread

This is where personalising your bread as lifestyle medicine begins, and it is the first and most important step, the baseline that everything else is built on. It is available to a select number of private individuals. Before we look at whether any nutrigenetic or gut testing is useful for you, I ask you to complete a detailed bread and digestion history, and then we spend 45 minutes together talking through your health, your symptoms and your whole relationship with bread. Afterwards you receive a personalised report that sets out your recommendations and the way forward.

This is the start of what many practitioners now call integrative personalised medicine, and it begins exactly here, with a careful and unhurried look at the person, long before any test is involved. This is integrative personalised bread, chosen and baked to optimise your fibre, your diversity and your lifestyle.

If you are enrolled in the Diploma, the 3-Day Courses or Retreats from 2026 onwards, this assessment is already included, so you do not need to book it separately.

Why start with a Bread Consultation?

Bloating, IBS, fatigue and the symptoms people often read as gluten intolerance tend to point to something deeper, and this is where we begin to understand it. It is a proper lifestyle medicine assessment that looks at your health history, your symptoms and your relationship with bread. Going straight to genetic or gut testing tends to skip the part that makes the testing meaningful, which is why we start here, with the essential baseline to work from.

What you will receive

  • A 45-minute call with me, Dr Vanessa Kimbell, to talk through your lifestyle assessment in detail
  • My recommendation on which (if any) nutrigenetic reports or gut tests are genuinely worth doing for you
  • A personalised report explaining why some breads, such as a long-fermented sourdough, may suit you well while others may suit you less
  • A tailored bread strategy, with the flours, fermentation and recipes matched to your digestive and nutritional needs
  • An understanding of how your bread interacts with your microbiome, and whether further testing would tell us anything useful
  • Preventative guidance on how to eat your bread to support digestion, blood sugar, inflammation and energy
  • Bespoke recommendations on flour, ingredients and fermentation, so you can begin baking bread that supports your health
  • Recipe suggestions chosen to work well for you
  • A 15-minute follow-on call for any questions that come up afterwards

The first step in a bigger process

This consultation stands on its own as a complete piece of work, and many people find it gives them everything they need, with clear strategies to use straight away. It is also the baseline we ask for before any nutrigenetic or gut microbiome testing, and further testing can be added when it is appropriate, always after this stage.

Optional Add-Ons

If you already have a gut health report or a Lifecode Gx report, we can use this consultation to interpret one report per session. Additional reports are best given their own consultation, so each one gets a focused and thorough review.

Important for Students

If you are enrolled in the Diploma, the 3-Day Courses or Retreats from 2026 onwards, or you are a silver or gold member, this consultation is already included in your course fee and you do not need to book it separately.

Most people begin with a free 15-minute call to decide whether the consultation is right for them. From there you might choose to stop with your personalised report in hand, or carry on into deeper testing and a fully personalised bread protocol. Obligatory if she wants to come Tuesday I’m not recording them as they won’t be put up I don’t wanna lunchtime I will

Collaboration with Healthcare Practitioners

As a specialist in bread, Dr. Kimbell works collaboratively with healthcare professionals, including GPs, functional practitioners, and nutritionists. Many consultations are recommended by these professionals, and any formal diagnoses or test results you provide can help build a comprehensive and holistic picture.

Please note: Dr. Kimbell does not provide diagnoses, nor does she work with non-evidence-based tests. While she respects individual approaches to health, her recommendations are rooted in scientifically validated information. For areas outside her scope, such as menopause, male hormones, or antigen testing (IgG + IgA Combined), she may recommend trusted healthcare practitioners better suited to assist.
