BALM reframes the way we understand the impact of bread on the environment.

Learning Objective

Teaching BALM is about agency and empowerment: Teaching activism helps your students or patients to develop a sense of agency and empowerment, enabling them to become change agents in their communities and address social justice issues.

Part of this is developing critical consciousness; encouraging students and patients to engage in activism helps them develop critical consciousness, which involves questioning societal structures, recognizing oppression, and working towards social justice,  in baking eating and sharing bread and joining the Sourdough club is about collective action:. Activism often involves collective action, fostering a sense of community and solidarity among my students and enabling them to work together to address social justice issues.

This feature is background information that helps contextualise the social justice in rejecting ultra processes foods by understanding the impact on the environment.

Learning Outcome

A comprehensive understanding of fostering change and social justice by actively addressing inequities and promoting empowerment, inclusion, and social change through argoeconomics
