The Sourdough School Educational Awards Programme is underpinned by Diversity Bread® licence and the bread is made with our Botanical Blend Flour®.
Our remarkable system designed to impact the health of your consumers positively and support the environment. Our evidence based BALM protocol involves the incorporation of our innovative Botanical Blend Flour ® diversity porridges, and probiotic finishes into bread production. We educate baker on how and why this works, so you can send your bakers to us to be trained.
Licence fess directly support scholarship places, and fees are costed in number scholarships places and or social prescriptions. We will display your details as an awards scholarship sponsor and acknowledge your support as part of the marketing and support on your licence.
Cost of Licence for Diversity Bread®
The Diversity Bread® Licence is an annual licence that costs £1,000 for administration, allowing bakeries to use the trademark and supporting materials. This fee increases by £1,000 for every £1 million turnover of the bakery, regardless of the quantity of Diversity Bread® produced.
Small Bakeries – Licence for £1
The Diversity Bread licence is set at just £1 for bakeries with a turnover of less than £250,000 per annum because our primary goal is to make knowledge accessible and affordable for all bakeries, especially those just starting out. We believe financial barriers should not prevent bakeries from accessing the tools and information they need to make a positive impact. While we aim to keep the licence fee as low as possible for small artisan bakeries—although there may be a need to adjust it at a later date to support the growing programme—our commitment remains to ensure that the licence is accessible and continues to empower as many bakeries as possible to use Diversity Bread® and join us in our mission for healthier, more sustainable bread. – All assets provided to support use our existing photography, films and information.
How Do You Set Up a Bakery Licence?
First, you call us, or email and we talk. Then we either come to you or your team joins us here at The Sourdough School. we encourage you to tell the story of your diversity bread if you develop your on blend here then we think It’s important to share these precious developments and we can capture this on film. As your team trains, we can as an extra also develop a unique botanical blend specifically for you. We experiment, creating variations of this blend. We chronicle the process from the fields to the factory—filming the training, the farmers nurturing the soil, and the birth of the bread in the production facility.
Developing Your Blend and Baking It Here
Your team joins the Educational Programme and gains a profound understanding of the impact bread can have on our health. You are invited to bake with us at The School. We’ll share with you how BALM and Diversity Bread don’t merely feed people; they nourish them and support the environment. You learn how your bakery can make bread that has a tangible impact on health. When the smell of fresh bread fills the air in your bakery, it will be a testament to the health you’re cultivating in your community and the planet. You’ll be supporting healthcare providers who need a solution, helping fund their training, and backing the social prescribing programme.
As an extra we might even develop some additional products, and when the bread—the fruit of our labour—is finally made, it’s not just a cause for celebration, it’s a moment of transformation.

Creating Your Bespoke Blend
As an extra, we can create a bespoke blend for you, or you can use one of our existing blends. We work closely with our partner, Hodmedod’s, who helps us source ingredients that have been sustainably produced.

A full consultancy package
In additional to the Diversity Bread® licence fee, we offer a unique consultancy service that not only provides specialised training and support to your bakery but also contributes to the funding of educational bursaries and scholarships. This approach aligns with our commitment to creating meaningful change through education and community engagement with your own team.
How It Works:
- Consultancy Days: Our full consultancy service is structured over 3 days to provide comprehensive support. Typically, this includes:
- Initial Consultation and Assessment: A visit to your bakery to review current processes, followed by detailed feedback and strategy planning.
- Training Session: A hands-on session where we train your bakers in the use of our Diversity Bread Flours and porridges, focusing on techniques that enhance health benefits.
- Implementation and Follow-up: A follow-up session approximately a month later to fine-tune techniques, adjust strategies, and capture multimedia content (such as photography and video) that highlights the distinctive qualities of your bread.
- Marketing Day: A dedicated day for marketing activities, including creating engaging content for social media, preparing posts for Instagram, and making announcements on sourdough.co.uk.
Fund your own team’s training
- Full Scholarship Option: Chose to train your own baker. Alternatively, bakeries can choose to provide a full scholarship for their own bakers. This option includes the £1,999 enrolment fee plus a commitment of £49.99 per month for two years. The total cost for a full scholarship is £3,198.52 per baker over the two-year period, covering both the enrolment and ongoing support costs. This investment ensures your bakers receive comprehensive training and development, equipping them with the skills and knowledge to advance the bakery’s commitment to health and sustainability.
