Learning Objective

This tool is designed to help you plan and manage your 3-day retarded sourdough bread baking process. Here’s how to use it:

First Understand the Process – this is a planning tool

  • Baking sourdough bread is a 3-day process. The schedule includes steps for each of the three days.
  • On Day 1, you will build your starter
  • On Day 2, you will mix and shape the dough.
  • On Day 3, you will score then bake the bread.
  • Choose Your Mixing Day – the is the day that you need to pay attention to each step all day. – and this is the day that you can chose a start time on this form that will just the timings to suit your availability of when you can start.
  • Decide which day and what time you want to mix the dough. Remember this will be Day 2 of the schedule.
  • Do this a day or so in advance as the day before your chosen mixing day will be Day 1 and you will need to build your starter first.
  • It is the day after your chosen mixing day that you bake your bread – Day 3.

Here is how to use the form:

  1. Day 2 Start Time: Choose the time you want to start mixing the dough on Day 2.
  2. Day 2 Start Day: Select the day you want to mix the dough (Day 2).
  3. Click the Generate Schedule button.

By following these steps, you can ensure a smooth and well-timed baking process that fits your schedule. Enjoy your baking!
