About
My favourite way to eat bread is to toast it, drizzle with olive oil and sprinkle some feta and caramelised onion on top. Or make mini pizza breads! I like to bake for my family and friends, I love trying out new recipes and trying to get the perfect balance between healthy and tasty!
My Work
I am based in Aberdeenshire, I am an industry dietitian, so I work in product development for a company that makes baked products - some of my favourite projects are reformulating recipes to make them healthier. I also work freelance giving companies or individuals nutrition and dietetic advice and also product development advice.
Passionate about Baking as Lifestyle Medicine
I'm passionate about baking as lifestyle medicine because I believe there is few things more important than being able to empower people with the skills they can use to take control of their own health. My mum has been unwell since I've was 5 and I have cared for her my entire life seeing her lowest and highest points in her health and mood - the highest points have been when she and I could do something within our power to improve her quality of life.
My Community
My community extends to everyone I can reach through product development and advice I'm happy to give to anyone who reaches out to me. I think that baking as lifestyle medicine can transform people's health in so many ways, improving people's quality of life physical and mentally but I believe one of the most important is helping to ground and connect people - taking them back to a place of empowerment where they can provide for themselves and others with the best food for their health.
How I use BALM Protocol
One I have graduated I will use the knowledge I've gained in every possible way; I will teach others, take care of my mum, teach her ways to improve her own health and also hopefully I can reach thousands of people to increase the availability of healthier baked products through my product development role.
