Michael James is an accomplished chef and baker who grew up in Penzance before moving to London, where he met his wife, Pippa James, at restaurant Pied à Terre. They moved to Australia in 2004, opening the Tivoli Road Bakery in Melbourne in 2013. Michael consults internationally and teaches.
As co-founders of Grainz, they are committed to sustainability as active members of Melbourne’s baking, grain-growing and milling community. Their first book, The Tivoli Road Baker, was published in 2017.
The savoury follow up book, All Day Baking was published in 2021 and is available in our Sourdough School shop as a signed copy.
Michael has contributed to the content of our BALM Certificate and our Sourdough Club with recipes and video tutorials for our students and members.
