About
I am a food marketing consultant, food writer and passionate baker of sourdough (for around 2 years now). I love learning about food and baking sourdough (I make 4 loaves for my family each week and do a big bake each month for friends and family). My favourite way to eat bread is likely peanut butter on toast with blueberries and honey! But I also love a great sandwich and have a wonderful tin loaf recipe that I bake regularly.
My Work
I am based in a small town called Haslemere in Surrey. I have been baking sourdough for two years now - sparked by a course at Bread Ahead in Borough Market which triggered a big passion for real bread and making from scratch. I love the feeling of hands in dough and making something for my family which I know is nutritionally superior to a shop bought loaf - it makes me really happy. I have also completed a course at E5 bakehouse and write occasionally for The Real Bread Campaign (as well as other food magazines). I also occasionally teach beginner sourdough classes for people who want to learn how to bake from scratch. It's early days yet but I've really enjoyed it so far and love to see that spark ignite in other people when they realise: 'Yep, I can do this'. I'm very much looking forward to coming along to The Sourdough School this week to learn more.
Passionate about Baking as Lifestyle Medicine
Personal interest, understanding more about the wheat, different types of flour and how it impacts the gut. Moreover, I'm excited to bake different types of bread and learn some new skills.
My Community
I already have a huge passion for baking from scratch. I'm an advocate for eating real food and very much keen to be part of the shift that is taking place to move us back to real food. I believe there is fundamental change required to the way that we view, source ingredients and prepare food and I'm excited to have my passion fueled through learning at The Sourdough School. I believe that moving away from processed food with unnecesary ingredients can be transformative to health in so many ways.
