Profession: Home Baker
After a complicated leave from the corporate job a year ago, I returned back to baking and found that baking with sourdough has saved me. The holistic approach of baking has improved my anxiety and my overall mental health so much, as it became my daily meditation and my routine. By reading about the sourdough in books and internet, I also found the sourdough to be so rich, as it nourishes our diets, it supports our digestive gut health and it not only contributes to our body, brain but also our planet. I then truly understood that this is just a beginning for me and that I sincerely want to share this knowledge, create a meaningful impact and contribute to the overall well-being of Lithuanian society. I hope in the same way as baking with sourdough helped me, it can help others.
Rye bread has always been the most common bread in Lithuanian household, same as in mine. From my early childhood, I remember the best small rye bread open sandwiches made by parents or grandparents, to this day these are my favorite, simply with a light spread of butter and sea salt. Nowadays, I bake bread for my family, relatives, neighbors and small circle of clients.
I live in Vilnius, Lithuania. I decided to pursue baking and in the beginning of this year I have opened a micro bakery from my home and have registered an approved food handling entity at my home. My bread and other bakes are all made with sourdough and I aim to keep it that way. Currently I am selling my bakes to customers who I know and to others who they recommend to. But also I am working on the Instagram account and also creating a website to progress and develop my brand on a wider scope, where I can also share about baking, sourdough and healthy eating habits.

I believe that the knowledge gained from BALM course will equip me with a deeper understanding of the sourdough, the practice will lead to expertise and in return will allow me to share it and create that lasting positive impact on people's health that I aim for.
This one is hard to answer. But in my opinion, people are faced with too many options in the supermarkets and more often than not, they choose not the best product or a quality product. I believe, power is in knowledge, when you want to see change or transform, thus sharing that knowledge about baking, healthy eating habits is the only way to go.
