Preferred Name: SuAnn

Location: United Kingdom

Profession: Home Baker

About Me

I love eating bread in all forms: dipping it in olive oil, as a sandwich and as the base for a fried egg and avocado :) I bake for my family and friends.

My Work

I am currently living in Gibraltar. I am a home baker and happy to share loaves, starter and bread with others. I have also started teaching others to bake the 10-minute loaf.

Passionate about Baking as Lifestyle Medicine

Out health in a large part is based on our environment (what we surround ourselves with), the excessive we engage in and the food we consume. I believe that improving the nutrition of the bread we eat can have a great impact our our health, both physical and mental health).

My Community

Gibraltar is a small community (about 32,000 people live here). The pace of life is slower here than in larger cities. Lots of walking and lots of cooking as well as eating at outdoor pubs and cafes. As a newcomer to Gibraltar (6 years so far), I find that there is a great sense of community, concern for others and socializing here. Baking and sharing bread is a great way to connect with others. Whether in the gym or in the street, the subject of sourdough baking always elicits interest and comments. As far as I know, there is no bakery here that sells sourdough bread. The loaves that I know of are baked by home bakers. Helping others to add the 10-minute loaf to their home baking repertoire would allow them to bake sourdough in a successful way that is easy to replicate and much more healthful than what is readily available here.

How I Will Use The Knowledge

I hope to continue baking for my family and friends. I would also like to share with others the knowledge to allow them to bake their own sourdough bread.
